In 1995 the idea of net.art became very popular and became a space online graphics and images and other forms of media. It was a network of links, projects, and emails to allow the viewer to interact create a conversation between one another in an online space. Mailing lists were popular to sign up to specific topics to engage and consume online art and ideas. The internet space was changing especially in Eastern Europe and how it was tied to the political climate during that time. Another form of art came into existence known as Jodi.org which is an interactive online experience where the viewer is prompted to type various words or sayings into a box and the site will jumble it up and spreads it across your screen. Personal projects on the internet exploded with the use of hypertexts to be put into the public space of the internet. Women began to be seen more in these net art platforms. Various artists began producing online interactive forms of art which spoke to various topics like the gender, romance, femininity. Other artists worked on projects with desktops to redefine what art can be especially in an online format. This article tells the history and origin of online artwork. It is interesting to understand how online media made its debut and how it was consumed compared to today. Today we are so wrapped up in media especially the internet and we have evolved so much. Comparing how internet art started to current day is very interesting.
